Develop adjustments are saved as a settings file alongside the source image. Export creates a finished image for sharing or further editing. File operations such as rotation or conversion are separate actions.

It can help where the RAW capture still contains usable highlight information. Fully clipped areas cannot be guaranteed to regain detail; the result depends on the photograph and camera file.
