Tools

The Toolbox (Window ▸ Toolbox, Ctrl+Alt+1) is a two-column palette of twenty cells. A letter selects a tool while the canvas has the keyboard — not while you are typing in a field. A cell with a small triangle in its corner is a family: click the triangle, press and hold the cell, or right-click it to open a strip with the family's tools; the cell then shows the tool you picked.

Tool options

The Options bar (Window ▸ Control Palette, Ctrl+2) shows the settings of the active tool — brush, mode, opacity, tolerance, feather and so on. Double-clicking a tool cell reveals its row; for the painting tools it also opens the Brushes palette (Ctrl+5).
