Preferences

Open the Preferences

Choose Edit ▸ Preferences… (Ctrl+K). View ▸ Units & Increments…, Type ▸ Text Preferences… and View ▸ Grids & Guides ▸ Grid Preferences… open the matching section directly.

The sections

The upper sections (General, File Handling, Display Performance, AI, MCP Server) are preferences of the app and take effect as you change them; the Document sections below (Units & Increments, Guides & Pasteboard, Grids, Type, Dictionary, Transparency, Text Defaults) belong to the open document and are applied with their Apply button. The preferences of the app are kept in the app's own storage on this device.

Reset to defaults

Click Reset to Defaults… at the bottom of the Preferences window and confirm. General, File Handling, Display Performance, AI and MCP Server go back to the values Master Page starts with. Your AI keys, your prompt presets and the open document's preferences are not changed. No key needs to be held down at launch.

AI

The AI Console (Window ▸ AI Console, Alt+F7) works with Gemini Nano, which runs on the device where Android offers it, or with Claude or Gemini using your own key, entered in Preferences ▸ AI. The key is stored in the Android Keystore, never in a plain file, and only sent to the provider you chose.

Assistants on the device

An assistant on the device, such as Gemini, can drive Master Page through Android app functions: it calls the same commands the Mac offers to MCP clients, on the document that is open. Allow external control in Preferences ▸ MCP Server decides whether those commands may change the document; with it off, an assistant can read the document but not change it. Master Page for Android runs no MCP server and opens no network port, so an MCP client on another computer cannot connect to it.

Palettes

Window ▸ Workspace ▸ Reset Palette Locations puts the palettes back where they start; New Workspace… saves the current arrangement under a name.
