Pick the Type tool (T), drag a frame on the page and start typing. Click inside an existing frame to place the caret. Input methods for Japanese, Chinese and Korean compose in place, with the keyboard of the system.
Select text, then use Window ▸ Type ▸ Character (Ctrl+T) and Window ▸ Type ▸ Paragraph (Ctrl+Alt+T), or the Control palette at the top (Window ▸ Control Palette, Ctrl+Alt+6). Tabs are set in Window ▸ Tabs (Ctrl+Shift+T). Type ▸ Show Hidden Characters (Ctrl+Alt+I) shows spaces, tabs and returns.
Select a frame, click its out port (the small square at the bottom right) and click another frame: the text flows from one to the next. A red “+” in the out port means there is overset text that does not fit.
Select an object and choose a wrap mode in Window ▸ Text Wrap to make the text flow around it.
Edit ▸ Find/Change… (Ctrl+F) searches text, GREP, glyphs and objects. Edit ▸ Spelling ▸ Check Spelling… (Ctrl+I) checks spelling with the spell checker of Android, in the languages it offers; on a device without a spell checker the command is greyed out and says why. Edit ▸ Edit in Story Editor (Ctrl+Y) shows a story as plain text.
