Vector Designer for Windows 26.18: big screens, a better welcome, palettes with a shadow

Vector Designer for Windows 26.18

Vector Designer 26.18 for Windows is on the Windows page today, for x64 and for Windows on ARM, and it reaches existing copies through Help › Check for Updates. The same build is on its way to the Microsoft Store. It comes from a first launch on a 4K laptop, and fixes what that launch showed.

Big screens

The first time you open the app the window is maximized, the toolbox sits on the left edge and the Control bar at the bottom of the canvas, whatever the size of your screen. The interface follows your display scale from one place instead of thirty-eight, so nothing stays small on a high-resolution display.

A better welcome

The welcome tour shows its pictures again and starts from the first slide; it closes with Esc, with Enter (which starts a new document) or with a larger close button.

Palettes with a shadow

Palettes are opaque and move without lag: the translucent background was expensive on a 4K screen, and the layout file was being rewritten on every step of a drag. In its place each palette has a soft shadow and a fine border, so it stands out from the page on Windows 10 too.

Keep the reports coming through Help › Send Feedback: every one is read.
