Pages (Layout menu, Pages palette, Organize Pages)
- Reorder pages by dragging them, in the sidebar or in Organize Pages.
- Duplicate a page (or several at once, as one undoable step).
- Insert Pages from File… — merge another PDF in, exactly where you want it, from the Pages sidebar, Organize Pages or the welcome window's Merge PDFs tile.
- Rotate clockwise, counter-clockwise or 180°.
- Extract Pages… — take pages out into a new PDF.
- What is deliberately not there: adding a blank page or deleting a page. These were removed from the app — you can reorder, rotate, duplicate, extract and merge, but not add or delete pages.
- Crop Pages… — set top/left/right/bottom margins in your unit, see the crop live on the page and the resulting page size, apply to all pages, a range, or only even or odd pages.
- Navigation — First, Previous, Next, Last Page and Go to Page….
- Organize Pages — the whole document as a grid of thumbnails that zooms and pans like the document itself. Select several, drag to reorder, and use the toolbar: Rotate, Duplicate, Extract to a New PDF…, Insert Pages from File…. Press ↵ on a page to open it.
- Pages palette / sidebar — thumbnails down the side; drag to reorder, right-click for Duplicate, Rotate, Insert Pages from File, Extract. Pages that are the destination of a bookmark carry a small bookmark badge in the corner of their thumbnail, and the badge follows along live as bookmarks change.
- Page display (View menu) — Single Page, Continuous, Continuous – Facing, and Show Cover Page so the first page sits alone as a cover.
- Zoom — Zoom In, Zoom Out, Actual Size, Fit Page in Window, Fit Spread in Window; ⌘-scroll also zooms. Show Rulers adds rulers around the page.
Page numbers, headers, footers, watermarks
- Bates Numbering… — prefix, suffix, starting number, number of digits, position, margins, font, size, colour, page range.
- Header and Footer… — your text with
{page}, {pages} and {date} placeholders, any of six positions, margins, font, size, colour, range. - Watermark… — text, rotation, opacity, seven positions, margins, font, size, colour, range and even/odd pages. You choose how it is placed: as a removable annotation, as page content on top, or as page content behind the page. Remove Watermarks removes the removable kind and tells you so.
Bookmarks
The Bookmarks palette shows the document's own outline as a tree; click a title to jump there. Bookmarks are fully editable: New Bookmark captures the view you are looking at as its destination and opens ready to be named; you can rename one, move it up or down, indent or outdent it in the tree, point it at a new destination, or delete it — each as a single undoable step. The Pages sidebar marks bookmarked pages with a small badge.
