Layout ▸ Recognize Text (OCR)… asks This Page or All Pages and adds an invisible text layer over the scan so it can be searched, selected and copied — the picture itself is not touched. Pages that already have real text are skipped, and the app tells you how many, instead of adding a second garbled layer on top; it also says so when no text is found.
